The Lift Training System

Teaching safer lifting technique

The Inbiodyn Lift Training System employs our Learn by Doing approach to teach trainees proper lifting techniques for everyday items. While using bad form when lifting a moderately heavy object may not immediately result in an acute injury, the unnecessary additional stress on the lower back can cause chronic injuries, lifelong pain, and even disability.

Materials handling injuries resulted in more than 1 million injury cases in 2021-2022, with over half of cases resulting in missed work days.

What is the Lift Training System?

The Lift Training System uses a motion capture system to track and analyze a trainee’s body position and movement when picking up an object of a known weight and size. This motion capture data is then used to calculate the forces on the lower back when using both improper technique and proper technique. The side-by-side comparison is reviewed with the trainee so that they get an objective 3rd person view of their own body movements and how that impacts their lower back.

Origin And Development

The Lift Training System is our response to multiple clients noting a rise in injuries potentially rooted in poor technique when lifting everyday objects. Because we cannot see ourselves from a 3rd person perspective, we often do not realize just how poor our technique is when we bend over to lift a box or object. The Lift Training System allows each trainee to see their own form and the stresses it’s adding to their back, along with a comparison of the lower forces at play in a lift employing good form.
